The title of “Fragments of a Lover’s Discourse” is inspired by the 1977 classic Roland Barthes book of a similar name.
The description on the cover reads:
“Reviving the notion of the amorous subject beyond psychological or clinical enterprises, Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse is a book for everyone who has ever been in love, or indeed, thought themselves to be immune to its power.”
This book is a diary that I put together. It is not my story, and it can belong to any woman.
Each polaroid is a portrait of a distinct object in the subject’s personal space. The polaroids are accompanied by quotes, fragments of the subject's narrative.
This narrative explores intimacy, dependency, vulnerability and violence.
